Misti Duvall is a visiting assistant professor at Boston College Law School, where she teaches Law Practice I and II. Her academic writing focuses on law and narrative and legal writing pedagogy, and she is an assistant editor for the peer-reviewed journal Legal Writing. Prior to joining 51¶¯Âþ Law, Duvall was the writing specialist at Columbia Law School; there she designed and taught legal writing workshops, tutored students one-on-one, and developed legal writing education materials. She also taught First-Year Legal Writing as an adjunct professor of law at Fordham Law School.
Before transitioning into academia, Duvall spent a decade representing environmental and human rights organizations in administrative advocacy, litigation, and international and domestic policy advocacy. She began her career as a legal fellow with the U.S. and Southeast Asia offices of EarthRights International, then provided legal education and advocacy support to local environmental organizations in Southeast Asia. Duvall went on to address Clean Air Act policy and implementation as a staff associate at the National Association of Clean Air Agencies and advocate for water quality protections as a staff attorney at Riverkeeper. She received her J.D. from Columbia Law School, M.F.A. in creative writing from City College of New York, and B.A. from the University of Tennessee.Ìý
