They came from 43 colleges and universities for the Deloitte FanTAXtic regional case-study competition. And one of the 60 teams from those schools emerged on top: a five-member group of undergraduates from the Carroll School of Management.
The student tax competition攁 mix of case simulation, role playing, and presentations攖ook place at Deloitte downtown Boston offices, November 11�13.
淏oston College demonstrated the ability to work collaboratively to solve a complex business case simulation,� Deloitte said in announcing the results. 淭he team was also recognized for the quality of their overall presentation to a panel of live and virtual judges using the organization video conferencing capabilities.�
The accounting students will now go to Deloitte national learning and leadership development center, near Dallas, for the national event January 13�15. There, they檒l compete with the winners of eight other regional contests for more than $50,000 in individual scholarships and institutional awards.
The five are: Andrew Breckel �17, Nikita Patel �17, Ellen Ubl �17, Marissa Cohen �19, and Ryan Pierpont �19. With them all the way was Edward Taylor, faculty advisor and lecturer in accounting.
