CTE Program Accessibility Initiatives
The CTE is committed to providing equal access to events and programs. If you ever have any questions about the specifics of a program, don™t hesitate to email centerforteaching@bc.edu.
Our goal is to make our offerings as accessible as possible from the outset, though we can™t anticipate the needs of each individual. If you require an accommodation to participate in an event, please either:Ìý
- Indicate the accommodation need on the event registration form
- Email centerforteaching@bc.eduÌý
- Contact Kim Humphrey, Associate Director of Faculty Programs (humphrek@bc.edu; 617-552-3749).Ìý
While there is no firm deadline for accommodation requests, earlier notice better allows us to implement a solution that will meet your needs.
Steps CTE staff generally take to make our programs more accessible:Ìý
- Make accessible materials available at least 48 hours ahead of time whenever possibleÌý
- Provide multiple modes for communication (e.g. verbal and written) throughoutÌý
- Provide automatic captioning during slide presentationsÌý
- Make KN95 masks available
- Provide alternatives to in-person attendance as appropriate (such as sharing session recordings or notes, allowing for remote attendance, or meeting individually)
For programs that we expect to draw a larger audience ”Ìýlike Excellence in Teaching Day or TA/TF Orientation ” we also:Ìý
- Provide recordings of keynote sessions. Recordings of plenary or breakout panels may also be available, pending panelist approval.Ìý
- Use microphones in all event spacesÌý
- If moving between buildings is part of the day, identifying a CTE staff member who will take the accessible route between buildingsÌý
Community members and visitors can reserve a lactation space through the Office of the Vice President for Human Resources. Ìý
